CDC announced a new contract opportunity through the 2024 Broad Agency Announcement (BAA): 75D301-24-R-72894 on February 09, 2024. Under Topic 7 of this solicitation, the Office of AMD (OAMD) seeks white paper submissions from universities, healthcare partners, and businesses to find innovative approaches that advance pathogen-agnostic detection of infectious diseases. This includes rapid molecular, genomic or multi-omic detection and characterization of pathogens and the software and tools used to analyze and visualize the data.

From 2020 through 2023, more than $74 million has been awarded through 44 BAA projects to fill knowledge gaps and promote innovation in pathogen genomics. Funding awarded is determined through a competitive selection process based on scientific needs and funds available. These projects complement other AMD investments in bioinformatics, genomic epidemiology, and the latest next-generation genomic sequencing technologies.
